CPM party office vandalised amid polls in Ganguly Bagan, Srijan Bhattacharya reaches on spot

This morning, violence broke out in Ganguly Bagan when the husband of a CPM candidate's polling agent was beaten up outside his residence in Rabindra Pally. The attackers snatched poll documents from him. In the ensuing chaos, three other CPM supporters, including a 72-year-old cancer patient, were also assaulted while trying to rescue the victim, according to local Left camp reports.

Further unrest was reported with the alleged demolition of a CPM camp office at Chittaranjan Colony in Ganguly Bagan. CPM candidate Srijan Bhattacharya promptly visited the site to assess the damage.

Tensions were already high from the night before the polls, when allegations surfaced of rioting by Trinamool's bike forces in Baghajatin, part of the Jadavpur Lok Sabha constituency. Trinamool Councilor Bappaditya Dasgupta of Ward No. 101 was accused of leading an attack that involved hurling bricks at the homes of CPM workers and supporters, resulting in broken windows. While TMC has yet to respond to these allegations, local CPM workers, led by Bhattacharya, staged a protest when police arrived at the scene.

Additionally, there were complaints that CPM agents were barred from entering the booth at Chit Kalikapur Primary School in Kalikapur. Bhattacharya intervened personally to ensure his agents could be installed.
